Erin

Sometimes when you work in fashion it can be even harder to find your perfect wedding look. That was the case for Erin, who had found lots of things she liked, but nothing that gave her that ‘aha’ moment. When she came to Julie and The Stylish Bride team to ask for help it was because she knew the market and all of the things she didn’t want, but finding what she did want was proving hard. “She was very fashion-forward and knew she wanted something different that she hadn’t seen before,” shares Julie.

Brief in hand, Erin flew out from her San Francisco home to meet Julie in New York. As well as wanting something a little different from the usual, there were multiple other considerations for Erin’s bridal look. She was keen to spotlight an up-and-coming designer, and it was also important that the dress worked well in her destination wedding location, Maya Cuba in Mexico. A serendipitous trip to one of Julie’s go-to bridal boutiques, Spina Bride, proved successful when Erin found ‘the one’ that ticked all of her boxes: a high-low, layered tulle dress by Santos Costura, a Spanish designer.

There were only two problems: firstly, it was lilac, and secondly, Erin wanted something longer. So Santos flew out from Barcelona for the fittings, working his magic to make it exactly as she wanted. While the cool design of asymmetric tulle layers sounds great in theory, in practice, it was a painstaking process of getting everything to lay and drape just right so that it didn’t dwarf her petite frame, but the hard work more than paid off. “Ultimately it was really beautiful, unique and most importantly personal to her,” shares Julie. Unsurprisingly, with such a show-stopping dress moment, Erin wanted to keep her accessories, hair and beauty look minimal, opting for very understated, elegant pieces, and a chic low bun.

The other events across the weekend allowed Erin’s fashion personality to shine: for the rehearsal dinner, Julie’s in-house designer Peter Soronen recreated a beautiful long open tunic Erin had seen with just one fastening at the bust, layering it over wide-leg silk pants. The amazing lime green color worked incredibly against the backdrop of the lush Mexican jungle and swimming pool, with fun white vintage sunglasses creating a real Instagram moment. Similarly, for the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding she wore a gorgeous slip dress from A La Robe, which fell beautifully on her petite frame and was effortlessly chic.
